The box is a Radiovisor designed (mentioned earlier in Lockstock post), I can’t remember who made the plastic covered ones shown in the picture. After a few years I designed our own box which required a long non-standard box spanner to remove the four nuts holding the cover on. The metal work was made by Albart in Kent then coated by Plastic Coatings in Guildford and the internal parts fitted by our apprentices at our premises.
Although a lot of these boxes would have had Lander Alarms labels fitted on them, there could still be quite a few out there because without the box spanner they could not be easily removed. I suspect there are lot of dummy boxes still on schools within the old GLC area as it was one of our main contracts or in the Wimbledon, Fulham, Battersea area.
Ah…they knew how to make them in those days eh!
